1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa – Exceptional design for an exceptional price

Couldn’t help not posting this when I saw the 1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa becoming the most expensive car ever sold: 9,02 million dollars.
And only by looking at it u stop wondering why…
Its design is simply mind blowing. It’s unbelievable what Sergio Scaglietti and his firm, Scaglietti & C, have done in 1957 with no drawings, just working directly on a wire framework. Enjoy the movie below and check out more pictures and details here.

Shape of a logo – Al Ries

Al Ries is talking about the perfect proportions of a logo. I’ve heard his theory before and it makes sense only from the readability point of view. There are so many examples of successful brands with square/round logos. It’s not like the human brain cannot perceive or memorize symbols displayed in other shapes than rectangles.

Paula Scher – graphic designer – “Type is Image”

Paula Scher studied at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and began her graphic design career as a record cover art director at both Atlantic and CBS Records in the 1970s. From 1984, she co-founded and ran Koppel & Scher in New York for seven years, then joined Pentagram as a principal in 1991.

Watch a short movie about a great designer talking about his work. It is worth it! Believe me! (again, be patient if u have a slow connection. u need Quiktime to be able to see it).

Nike ’cause’ – play beautiful football

Nike’s campaign for a beautiful football in this World Cup:

“I am here to remind the world that this game is about skills, heart, honour, joy, team spirit… Together — me and you — we can make it beautiful again. Beautiful!” (Eric Cantona – starring in Nike’s ad)

Design firm – short movie

Pentagram is a hugely important international design firm founded in London 1972. In 1978 opened another office in New York, followed by San Francisco in 1986, Austin – 1994, Berlin – 2002.

Pentagram designs print and screen graphics, buildings and environments, identities and products, and it has excellent and world renowned graphic designers which are also partners.

Really worth to see for anyone who’s interested in graphic design and wants to find out what it means to work in one of the most important design firms in the world: here is a short film were the partners present the firm (you’ll need QuickTime installed to be able to see it and a lot patience if you have a slow connection 🙂 ).
