U.S. Urban Green Council new identity

Pentagram’s newest identity work is the USGBCNY’s (U.S. Green Building Council New York Chapter) brand identity, now called Urban Green to emphasize the institution’s considerable expertise in city-based environmental issues.

The new “squarish” look is suggesting the density and city blocks of Manhattan.

New Photoshop CS5 technologies from Adobe Labs

Adobe labs presents new experimental features which might be included in the next Photoshop release CS5, rumored to be released around April 2010.

Stefan Kanchev – applied graphic artist

KANCHEV, Stefan Kirov — applied graphic artist, honored with the Bulgarian State title “National artist” in 1971. He was born on 06 August 1915, in Kalofer, Bulgaria and he studied mural painting in the National Art Academy (1940–1945).

Shape of a logo – Al Ries

Al Ries is talking about the perfect proportions of a logo. I’ve heard his theory before and it makes sense only from the readability point of view. There are so many examples of successful brands with square/round logos. It’s not like the human brain cannot perceive or memorize symbols displayed in other shapes than rectangles.

Klok – time tracking tool for freelancers

In order to have a good estimation of your freelance hours, you need a tracking tool.
Klok is a free application. I just installed it, but haven’t tried it, so I can’t give you any review.
